Tom had always wanted to spend some time on a barge or narrow boat and last year he finally did that on the Llangollen Canal near Chirk and he brought his pirate flag with him.

He says:-

"I had always wanted to spend the night on a barge / narrow boat and finally did so last year. Whilst on the narrow boat in Chirk, I recorded this Scottish Tale of piracy and what better a time to get my old skull and crossbones flag out.

This 17th century tale, which is said to depict the story privateer of Andrew Barton, is Child Ballad number 167."
